Sandakan: Only two offices belonging to Sandakan Municipal
Council were destroyed in a Tuesday night blaze, District Fire and
Rescue Chief Mohd Razali Awang Ahmad said. The department received the distress call at 7.28pm and dispatched four fire engines with 20 firemen to the scene, he said. "Fire-fighters managed to control the fire from spreading to nearby
area at 8.10pm," Mohd Razali said, Wednesday, adding that no one was
hurt during the incident.
It was learnt that the two affected offices, which were located on the
first floor, were an administration office and Sandakan Municipal
Council Deputy Secretary Jeffrey Aman's office. Meanwhile, Sandakan Municipal Council president James Wong said the
blaze did not affect the municipal operation and that all duties are
carry out as normal. "The two office are closed for temporary until the
investigation is complete," he added. The cause of fire and total of
losses are still being investigated.
